What a session involves
Bring any notes from your surgeon or hospital physiotherapist. We check your healing, swelling, movement and strength against where you should be, then agree goals for the next few weeks. Sessions are mostly guided exercise, with hands-on treatment where it helps.

How a course of treatment works.
Most plans follow three stages, reviewed with you at each appointment.
- Step 1: ProtectEarly movement within your surgeon’s limits.
- Step 2: RestoreRange, strength and walking, stage by stage.
- Step 3: ReturnBack to work, sport and everyday life.
Post-surgery rehab: your questions.
All questionsHow soon after surgery can I start?
Usually once you are home and your surgeon or hospital team says outpatient physiotherapy can begin. If you are not sure, ask them, or call us and we will talk it through.
Will you talk to my surgeon?
With your permission, yes. We can send a short update to your surgeon or GP if your recovery is not going as expected.
How long does rehab take?
It depends on the operation. A knee replacement often takes several months to feel settled, and we will give you a rough timeline at your first appointment.
