Questions and answers

Everything people ask us before their first appointment. If your question is not here, call or send us a message.

Before you come

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book with us directly. If you are claiming on health insurance, your insurer may want a GP referral first, so check with them before you book.

What should I bring?

Any letters, scan reports or exercise sheets you have been given, a list of the medicines you take, and your insurance details if you are claiming.

Do you see children?

We see young people from 12 upwards, with a parent or carer at the appointment. For younger children, we can suggest a children’s physiotherapist.

Your appointment

What should I wear?

Something you can move in, such as shorts and a T-shirt or vest top. You will not need to undress for the first appointment unless the assessment needs it, and we will always ask first.

How long is an appointment?

Your first appointment is 45 minutes and follow-ups are 30 minutes. A sports massage is 45 minutes.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. You are welcome to bring a friend, relative or carer, and you can ask for a chaperone at any appointment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what is wrong and what you want to get back to. We will give you an estimate at your first appointment and review it with you as you go.

What if I am not getting better?

We will review your plan with you. If we think you need a scan, a specialist or a different kind of help, we will say so and write to your GP.

Fees and insurance

Can I use my health insurance?

Yes, we are recognised by most major health insurers. Before your first appointment, ask your insurer for an authorisation code, and bring it with your membership number.

How do I pay?

By card or contactless at the end of each appointment. If your insurer pays us directly, you only pay any excess on your policy.

What if I need to cancel?

Please let us know at least 24 hours before, so we can offer the time to someone else.

Waymark Physiotherapy is a fictional business, so 0161 496 0614 is not connected and no one will answer. On a real site, this button would call the clinic.
